A reporter for the Shreveport Times, Maya Lau, has just posted quotes from an interview with Caddo Parish assistant district attorney Dale Cox  on Twitter about exoneree Glenn Ford and the death penalty. Cox, who has won four death sentences in four years, says “I think revenge is a legitimate motive” for the death penalty and “I think we need to kill more people.” His statements are a stunning counterpoint to the humble reflections of a former Shreveport prosecutor who last week apologized for putting Glenn Ford on death row.

Andrew Cohen has written a terrific piece for the Brennan Center for Justice about the ways in which Cox’s response to Ford’s exoneration reveals persistent and ugly flaws in our criminal justice system. Read it here.
